House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City # 1)

What is with authors and killing off characters I like? The fact that this book begins with the pack of devils dying kills me. And after when we find how bad Bryce is doing which makes sense of course. Then Micah  "visits" her at her work and tells her that the person everyone believed killed her friends, Phillip Briggs, did not actually do it. Now she's tasked with finding out the truth with a fallen angel, Hunt as her bodyguard. Somewhere in the course of the investigation, she starts to fall for Hunt, even if she doesn't know it yet. It turns out that Danika killed the pack and then herself after being injected with Synth, a synthetic drug. And how does she figure this out? Well, turns out Hunt is involved in planning a new rebellion involving taking synth. And that he knew about Danika for days and didn't tell her. His wings are cut off and he is sold to his former owner.  But it doesn't end there. Turns out Micah planned Danika's death and injected h...

Kingdom of the wicked (kingdom of the wicked #1)

From goodreads  Two sisters. One brutal murder. A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself... And an intoxicating romance. Another book where a character I liked dies. Why do authors do this to us? It's like house of earth and blood all over again. But without her sister's murder, Emilia would not go on a quest for vengeance.  When she summoned Wrath, I thought: what is she doing?  But Lord help me, I love him so much.  Her quest to avenge her sister was amazing and kept wondering. Finally she figures out who is responsible.  While I get why she tied herself to pride, I wish she would have been with Wrath.  And she goes to hell, I honestly was not expecting that.

A Curse So Dark and Lonely (cursebreakers #1)

I don't have much to say about this book. It's a unique Beauty and the Beast retelling where the kingdom of Emberfall exists alongside Washington DC and our world.  Other than that, it's your classic beauty and the beast retelling and it is good but I don't like Rhen that much.

Kingdom of the cursed (Kingdom of the wicked # 2)

Emilia travels to the seven circles to avenge her sister. She sells her soul to become the Queen of the wicked. She discovers that nothing is what it seems and that Wrath, her ally, has been keeping secrets. Emilia finds herself trapped between Wrath and his brother pride. Soon, she embarks on a mission to find out about her past and uncover the answers she is looking for. (Adapted from back cover) This story kept me engrossed from the beginning. It is a twisting tale of mystery, secret and lies. Emilia's true identity is revealed and she learns that her sister is alive.

Kingdom of the feared (Kingdom of the wicked #3)

10/10 Emilia is reeling from a shocking discovery about her sister and herself. Emilia wishes to seduce the prince of wrath before she faces the demons of her past. A member of house greed is assassinated and the evidence to points to her sister. Emilia and Wrath must play a dangerous game of deception and sin. Emilia was warned about the wicked, but the real enemy could be much closer. (adapted from back cover) This book was insane. The first witch is revealed. But that's not all. It is revealed that her home is not Sicily, but is actually the shifting isles. Emilia loses her powers but gets to stay with wrath.

Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass # 3)

Part One: Heir of Ash  Celeana is in Varese, the capital of Wendlyn. She was sent by the King but she has her own agenda.  Honestly, for me, the events that happen before she meets Rowan is not important. Until she meets him, it's just filler. I love them together and I love the slow burn of their relationship. He trains her in magic so she can prove herself in order to meet Maeve and gain information.  SPOILER ALERT: she does, Rowan is freed from the blood oath to Maeve.  Back in Rifthold, the King discovers Chaol's involvement with the rebels. The king tries to kill Chaol, causing Dorian to use his magic. Sorscha, a rebel, is killed. Aedion is captured, in attempt to get Aelin to return. Dorian is enslaved by his father with a Valg.  Aelin returns to the capital.  What a crazy ride.

Crown of midnight (Throne of glass # 2)

Celeana has become the king's champion. She is the king's personal assassin, taking out his enemies. Then she is tasked with taking down rebels to the crown. Her first target is someone she knows: Archer Finn. The king thinks she is actually killing her targets, but she is giving the option to fake their deaths and flee. So far everyone has agreed and it worked because she was away with Rifthold. But now her targets are in the city.  Numbers in Calaculla, the sister labor camp to Endovier, are swelling. Nehemia wants to help them but the king refuses to see her.  Lord Roland visits the capital.  Something mysterious roams the castle and Celeana runs into it in the library.  She visits the tomb again and meets Mort, a bronze door knocker who can talk. Elena isn't in the tomb. Mort explains that she is weak from the events during the last test. And has a message for her. It's not over. Cain was just the beginning, there is a deadlier power. Elena tasks her to fi...
