A Court of Mist and Fury (ACOTAR book 2)
10/10 always
As I previously stated, I do not like the first book of the series, especially in the context of the other books. BUT I absolutely loved the rest of the series and re-read it often. This book has many real life connections, especially to my own life and I love it. It is extremely well-written, the world building is amazing (as are all of her books, let's be real), and I love Rhys.
Feyre survived Amarantha and under the mountain and becomes High Fae. But she is traumatized and has PTSD. And Tamlin has only gotten worse. There were red flags in the last books but he is traumatized by Amarantha as well, but he is not handling it well at all. They won't talk about what happened even though Feyre seems to want to.
Tamlin and not letting her help
She desperately wants to help the people of the Spring Court but he will not let her go. The fact that she feels she doesn't have the freedom to do things on her own irks me. And Lucien is lying to her on Tamlin's orders. They claim that they need to present a united front so their people don't know what is really happening. Feyre is wasting away and neither one of them notices or cares. She throws up nightly and Tamlin doesn't even wake up. Sometimes he just sits by her bed in his beast form. He is controlling and unsympathetic and unyeilding. All because she died under the mountain, never mind that she is strong and wants to help.
Dressing her up
Feyre mentions how much she hates the dresses he and Ianthe make her wear, leading her to believe that wearing pants, tunics, and weapons would send the wrong message if they want to foster peace and stability. such bullshit.
"Why should the bride of the High Lord learn to fight if peace had returned?" Are you serious with this crap? She is the BRIDE. his property, I hate everything about this.
The red petals
This scene broke my heart. She cannot bear to see the color red and tells Ianthe "not red" What does Ianthe do? Mix red petals among the white for her wedding Feyre has a panic attack and Rhys sweeps in like an avenging angel and saves her.
"Hello Feyre darling" Swooon ❤️
He takes her the night court as part of their bargain. Honestly, I'm not going to talk about what happened after because it just makes me mad. He destroys the house, guards her when she doesn't need to be, and then freaking locks her in the house.
I love watching Feyre fall in love with Rhys and discover that he is her mate as well as finding her home and family with her.
"I was a lonely, hopeless person and I might have fallen in love with the first thing that showed me a hint of kindness and safety." Feyre
The fact that she can be so open and honest with him warms my heart.
"Come on, Feyre. We don't bite. Unless you want us to." Cassian
Hahaha. I honestly love the dynamic within the court of dreams.
"To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys."
"To the stars who listen- and the dreams that are answered.
Starfall scene is beautiful and I love everything about it.
"You may be my mate, but you remain your own person." Rhys ❤️
He made Feyre his equal, the High Lady of the Night Court.
